Ans. Proposal means the formal act of asking somebody to marry you. The central chances this play are Lomov and Natalya. Lomov is already thirty-five. He thinks that it is a critical age and he must get married at once. On the other hand, Natalya's father, Chubukov, as was find a husband for his daughter as soon as possible. She is already twenty-five and Chub thinks it a burden to be the father of a grown-up girl. He wants to get rid of this burden as so as he can. It was the time when Lomov comes to propose to Natalya, Chubokov goes mad with joy. But say soon he and his daughter enter into a useless argument with Lomov and the quarrel becomes so bitter that Lomov can stand it no longer and faints. Natalya begins to y because she thinks Lomov is dead. She thinks that all her chances of getting married are now Lomov moves a little. Chubukov puts Lomov's hand into Natalya's hand. He says him. "Hurry up and get married. She is willing!" So the proposal is accepted. The play is all a farce, and the title of the play is quite apt since it is the central point around which all the farce has been woven.
